* Women’s Amateur Championship, Rainier Golf & Country Club (Seattle), June 27-29

* Men’s Amateur Championship, McCormick Woods Golf Course (Port Orchard), June 27-30

** Denotes new event for 2006

In other championship news, the Board of Directors of the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) has approved the use of distance-measuring devices by Local Rule in the association’s 2006 championships. Decision 14-3/05 of the Decisions on the Rules of Golf that went into effect on January 1, 2006 requires a Local Rule permitting the use of distance-measuring devices to be in effect. The approval from the WSGA Board of Directors gives the WSGA Championship Committee the ability to institute the Local Rule on a competition-by-competition basis.
