WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 25, 2006) — The GolfStyles magazine group announced today the creation of a new radio show, GolfStyles Live, which will debut on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
The fast-paced, interview-driven show will be hosted by Tony Leodora, associate publisher/editor of GolfStyles Philadelphia. Leodora, an award-winning golf writer, also has a number of years of experience in radio. In 2003 he hosted a show that was honored as best golf radio show in the country by the International Network of Golf.
The new show will air from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP, 990-AM, the Philadelphia area’s fastest-growing talk station. Aside from news talk, WNTP is also the home of other sports programming such as Penn State football, Villanova basketball and football, and Drexel basketball.
"This is an excellent addition to our programming schedule, partnering with an outstanding publication such as GolfStyles," said WNTP vice president/general manager Russ Whitnah. "This puts us more in touch with our local market and gives us a recognized presence in Philadelphia’s great golf community."
Leodora’s fast-paced interview style will bring some of the biggest and brightest names from local, regional and national golf to the show each Saturday morning. He will combine the interviews with regular features such as "The Traveling Golfer," "The Golfer’s Closet," "The Shore Report" and "The Architect’s Corner."
"I am a passionate golfer and so are the readers of GolfStyles," said Leodora. "The radio show will reflect the image of the magazine, dealing with all aspects of the golf lifestyle. Those who like the magazine will love the radio show."
"We looked at this as an effort to support the magazine — its content, its courses and its advertisers," said Michael Keating, publisher of GolfStyles. "
We have an excellent magazine, one of the best and most active websites in the business and now we have a radio show that completes the overall package.
We regard this project as another way of staying on the leading edge of the golf industry." GolfStyles is the third-largest golf magazine in the country, with a circulation of more than 320,000 per issue. The magazine is published in seven regions — Philadelphia, Washington, New Jersey, Boston, Ohio, Carolina and Atlanta — nine times per year.
