TaylorMade’s r7 425 Driver also Sweeping Pro Tours
CARLSBAD, Calif. (January 30, 2006) – Aloha means hello and goodbye in the Hawaiin Islands and that’s just what TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Loren Roberts said as he captured his second consecutive victory of the 2006 Champions Tour season at the Turtle Bay Championship at the Palmer Course at Turtle Bay in Kahuku, Hawaii. Roberts also won last week in record fashion at the MasterCard Championships, also held in Hawaii.
This marks the third victory in eight attempts on the Champions Tour for the smooth rolling 50-year old. With the win, Roberts stopped Hale Irwin’s record streak of consecutive wins at the same professional event. Irwin had won the previous five Turtle Bay Championships. Roberts rolled in a dramatic nine foot eagle putt on the final hole to seal the victory.
In Loren’s bag: TaylorMade driver, TaylorMade rac irons, TaylorMade Rescue Club, TaylorMade rac pitching wedge.
Joining Roberts in victory this weekend was fellow TaylorMade staffer Tripp Isenhour. Isenhour fired a final round 69 to go along with rounds of 63-67-70 for an 11-under par total in winning the opening event on the Nationwide Tour at the BellSouth Panama Championship. His three stroke victory was also of significance to TaylorMade, as it marked the first professional victory for the TaylorMade r7® 425 driver after only 4 weeks out on tour.
In Tripp’s bag: TaylorMade r7 425 driver, TaylorMade r7 3-wood, TaylorMade racâ?¢ TP irons and TaylorMade wedges. He also wore adidas footwear.
The TaylorMade r7 425 driver debuted on the PGA Tour at the Mercedes Championships by winning the driver model count in its first appearance.* Since then, more and more players are putting the r7 425 into play. The r7 425 was also the No.1 driver model this week at the Buick Invitational on the PGA Tour, helping TaylorMade to victory in the driver brand count for the 208th consecutive week, dating back to 2001. On the Nationwide Tour, the r7 425 won the driver model count in its first appearance on that circuit at the Panama BellSouth Championship. And finally, on the Champions Tour, the r7 425 was No. 1 in the driver model count in its first appearance last week on the 50-plus tour.
TaylorMade drivers are starting 2006 off just like they ended in 2005 with total domination in the world of drivers. In fact, TaylorMade was No. 1 in the driver brand count in every event on the PGA, Champions, Nationwide, and European Tours in 2005 and nothing has changed in 2006.TaylorMade has won all driver counts on all Tours in the first month of 2006.
"We’re proud of Loren and Tripp for their wins this week," said Chuck Presto, Senior Vice President of Global Sports Marketing, TaylorMade-adidas Golf. "We’re also proud that our new r7 425 driver is in so many players’ hands in such a short period of time. The best players in the world will choose the best technology that they can get their hands on and the r7 425 is proving that out. We feel confident it’s the best driver we’ve ever made."
