Mitchell® Golf Equipment Company demonstrated its new putting studio at the PGA Demo Day and PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. The Mitchell® Putting Studio is a portable dual camera computerized system that is both a teaching and fitting tool.
The Teaching Module software offers golf professionals an economical teaching system. It dynamically measures aim, face contact point, path angle, acceleration, head speed, and stroke length, time & tempo. The face check feature shows the path of the putter head and the face angle.
It was a hit with PGA members who were looking for a system to aid them in teaching their students how to putt better to lower their scores." Golfers respond to instruction better with visual aids and dynamic data", states Pat Bayley, Director of Golf, Indiana National Golf Club at Swan Lake Resort, Plymouth, Indiana. "This system will give me the information my students and I need to improve their stroke."
The Fitting Module software provides video replay views from the toe of the putter and from overhead. Data is automatically displayed for address and impact positions for putter loft, face aim & contact point, ball skid distance and head speed. Three sessions with different putters can be saved and the results compared. The dual video replay clearly shows the ball skidding with the distance shown in inches.
The system was also a hit with retailers and custom club makers. "We have had the Mitchell® Putting Studio for several months. We use the data to compare different putter specifications in our fitting process", says Everett Lockenvitz, EJL Custom Golf, Willow Brook, Illinois. "Golfers love to see their stroke using the latest technology."
Putter instruction and fitting is becoming more important as golfers realize they can lower their scores by improving their putting performance. "We expect to see our system grow in popularity, " states Mike Stevens, Director of Sales & Marketing for Mitchell Golf. "It can be used indoors on artificial putting surfaces or outdoors for the real putting experience."
