Mitsubishi Rayon Driver Shafts Used By Top 3 Finishers At Buick Invitational

February 1, 2006

CARLSBAD, CA (January 31, 2006) – Three was the magic number for MRC Composite Products – USA this past week, with all three of the competitors in the playoff at the Buick Invitational using Mitsubishi Rayon shafts in their drivers. This year’s champion played the Diamana® shaft on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and used it to win both the 2005 and 2006 Buick Invitational.

Although Mitsubishi Rayon did not have the most shafts in play this week at the Buick, having the top three finishers echoes Diamana’s success on the PGA TOUR in 2005. Additionally, one of the other players that reached the playoff used the Diamana driver shaft in his driver for the very first time.

The excitement for Mitsubishi Rayon last week was not limited to the TOUR since they unveiled two new products at the PGA golf show in Orlando. Mitsubishi Rayon launched their first shaft product, Diamana Blue Board, to the US market in February 2005 and still managed to have more PGA TOUR driver shaft wins than any other shaft manufacturer. The Diamana Blue Board continues to gain recognition among the most respected pros, club fitters and OEM’s in the golf industry. According to Larry Bischmann, Director, North America for MRC Composite Products USA, the timing couldn’t be better. "Coming off the heels of a successful product unveiling of Diamana Red Board and Bassara in Orlando, the success at the Buick was amazing," he said. "The players’ success at the Buick is a telltale sign that 2006 will be great for us. Even with fierce competition for shaft usage on the PGA TOUR, the performance and quality of Mitsubishi Rayon continues to speak for itself."

The three products in Mitsubishi Rayon’s product line are based on feedback from the best players in the game and MRC engineers believe their product line has a competitive advantage as a result of the company’s vertical integration and proprietary materials. The product line is as follows:

â?¢ Diamana® Blue Board: The first in the Diamana series, Diamana Blue Board has a very stable profile and was released to the US golf market and played on TOUR February 2005. It is available in six weights and a variety of flexes, each designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding player.

â?¢ Diamana® Red Board: To be released to retail in March 2006 with a flex profile designed to accommodate the player who wants a more active tip section and higher trajectory. It is already being played on the PGA TOUR.

â?¢ Bassaraâ?¢: To be released to retail in March 2006 and offers a softer bend profile and more moderate torque values compared to the Diamana series. Excellent playability and high performance in a shaft that works for both TOUR players and aspiring amateurs. It was used for the first time at the 2006 SONY Open.
