GLENCOE, Illinois (February 1, 2006) – The GreenToTee Golf Academy today announced it has acquired the revolutionary new SAM Putt Lab, a device that uses an ultrasonic frequency to analyze the putting stroke and can be used to help train golfers of all levels improve their putting.
GreenToTee is the first Chicago-area golf instruction center to obtain the SAM PuttLab and is one of only nine in the United States, including such internationally-known golf academies as the David Leadbetter Academy, the Hank Haney Golf Ranch, and St. Andrews Links Golf Academy in Scotland. More than 26 U.S. and European touring pros and national teams also use the system.
GreenToTee will be demonstrating the SAM PuttLab at the 2006 Chicago Golf Show, Feb. 17-19 at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The device recently was a hit at the golf industry’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
"We acquired the SAM PuttLab because it’s a piece of cutting-edge technology that can help our students, whether they’re beginners or tournament players, make significant improvements in their putting," said Joe Bosco, president and co-founder of the GreenToTee Golf Academy (www.greentotee.com).
"The SAM PuttLab essentially takes an MRI of your putting stroke," Bosco explained. "It can measure a full range of variables in the putting stroke in such detail that you can see how the face of your putter moves from the time you take it back to when it strikes the ball and when you follow-through after the ball leaves the face.
"It shows the angle of the clubface at impact; whether the face of the putter is open, closed or square at impact, and how the ball reacts at the instant of contact and beyond," Bosco continued. "This kind of knowledge can contribute to our understanding of student’s putting stroke and help players determine what they need to do to improve their putting and even whether they are using a putter that fits them properly."
The SAM Putt Lab was developed by the German-based scientists of Science&Motion whose stated company mission is to "revolutionize golf training with our scientifically-based products and services." The scientists developed the state-of-the-art putting analysis system with the assistance of more than 100 PGA Tour pros in the U.S. and Europe, according to SAM co-founder and inventor Christian Marquardt.
"We are delighted that the GreenToTee Golf Academy will be using the SAM PuttLab system," Marquart said. "We look forward to working with Joe Bosco, Peter Donahue and their team to ensure they are fully equipped to utilize the system, which gives scientifically precise information on all relevant parameters for the putting stroke."
Golfers who are interested in learning more about the SAM PuttLab may contact GreenToTee Golf Academy at 847-405-9800. The GreenToTee Golf Academy is located at the Glencoe Golf Club, 621 Wesley Road, Glencoe.
Founded in 1989, the GreenToTee Golf Academy specializes in developing customized golf skills training programs for individuals who want to improve their games. Not satisfied with providing players with the popular "temporary quick fix" or "one-size-fits-all" golf lessons, GreenToTee instructors work one-on-one with each student to develop a "planned personal program" aimed at producing lasting improvements and measurable results. In addition to helping players identify effective swing models, GreenToTee instructors teach students to manage their games on the course, using on-course playing lessons and an essential element of the teaching process.
The U.S. distributor for SAM PuttLab is Sentient Sports LLC of Saline, Mich.
