FRESNO, CA – The father-and-son design team of Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II were on-site to walk the project and discuss the current layout and future plans of their newest California design, Running Horse Golf & Country Club. The Nicklaus team addressed the founding members, local dignitaries and media, and provided updates on the progress of the 18-hole championship golf course. "The course looks great. Jackie did a great job. I didn’t change much at all…I just added some spice to it," said Jack Nicklaus.
"Jackie is the main designer on this particular project and I add my comments as we go. The course is going to be a wonderful layout for the members. We’ve added some nice flavor to it over the last couple of hours." Nicklaus said his course design work can be just as rewarding as his golf career, in which he won 18 major tournaments.
Nicklaus Design has built more than 300 courses worldwide. Nicklaus’ Fresno visit was scheduled after trips to Italy, Spain and Florida and before trips to Hawaii and New Zealand.
Running Horse Golf & Country Club is one of the most spectacular additions to the San Joaquin Valley golf community. The layout will stretch over 220 acres of masterfully sculptured landscape. It will be the showpiece of the new real estate development covering 484 acres in southwest Fresno. This course will be capable of hosting professional tournament play, while offering an enjoyable challenge to club members with water features and undulating terrain.
