PACOIMA, Calif. – Well-known for its successful history in Long Drive events, Harrison Sports swept the Third Annual Orlando 2006 Players Tour Professional Long Drive Competition this weekend. Champion Eric Jones of Orinda, Calif., used a Harrison Striper Long Drive shaft to drive shots of more than 300 yards into a 30 mile-per-hour head wind to capture victories in both the Open and Senior divisions.
"The consistency of Harrison Shafts is what allowed me to hit the low penetrating ball flight needed to win in these high wind situations," says Jones, who is also a past champion at the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship on the LDA Tour. "The low-torque, ultra-light shaft designs by Harrison are proven to provide extreme distance and power, and the Striper shaft performed extremely well in some very difficult conditions."
"When Harrison started designing shafts for Long Drive competitors, we had one goal to win. We have created many innovative shaft designs that offer Long Drive champions the tools they need to win — lower trajectory, less weight and lower torque combined to provide extra distance," says Michael Cheng, president of Harrison Sports. "No other shaft manufacturer can offer Long Drivers more model options and more proven success than Harrison."
The Harrison Striper Long Drive is composed of boron reinforced X-6200 graphite and features a high flex point and 3.5 degrees of torque. As the premier shaft maker for Long drive champions, Harrison has studied the dynamics of the sport of Long Drive and discovered what features are necessary for hitting the ball immense distances. These research and development projects have lead to the production of Harrison’s Long Drive Series of shafts. All composed of the highest grade of materials and designed solely for increasing ball distance, these shafts offer a range of options in trajectory and torque that will allow a golfer of any strength to increase their driving distance tremendously.
Designed and manufactured from the best in graphite, titanium and boron materials, Harrison shafts are among the top five of the most-used graphite shafts in the world. Technologically superior and eye-catching in appearance, Harrison has become a popular and growing choice among professionals, clubmakers and golf enthusiasts.
