Meanwhile new CHAMP Pro Stinger continues to gain favor on the PGA TOUR.
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. February 6, 2006 – It may have been a dozen time zones away, but the results were the same: a playoff in the desert with the winner wearing CHAMP Spikes. This week, it was the European PGA Tour with the top names in professional golf competing. And again, the golfer who prevailed in the playoff to claim the Dubai Desert Classic wore the 6mm CHAMP Cer-Mec spikes.
Meanwhile back in the United States, CHAMP spikes were dominating the field at the FBR Open in Scottsdale, Ariz. A quarter of the field wore Champ Stingers while at least 15 golfers (more that 11 percent of the field) chose the brand new CHAMP Pro Stinger.
The Pro Stinger is a new hybrid – half-plastic/half-metal—spike that CHAMP just introduced last month. The Pro Stinger offers professional golfers the security of a metal spike with the comfort and many of the course-friendly qualities of non-metal spikes.
So far this season, CHAMP is the hottest spike on tour, with two wins on the PGA TOUR, two on the Champions Tour and now a victory on the European PGA Tour. Last season 24 winners on the PGA TOUR alone wore CHAMP spikes.
