ATLANTA, GA (Feb. 7, 2006) – In July 2007 the 136th British Open Championship returns to Carnoustie, Scotland, where fans of dramatic finishes and train wrecks will wonder if the most improbable of Open Championships could possibly repeat itself. Regardless of the outcome, guests of PerryGolf can retreat to the comforts of the Clipper Adventurer for a peaceful evening’s respite and a sound sleep, something that no doubt eluded Frenchman Jean Van de Velde after his unfortunate collapse in 1999 when the venerable Carnoustie golf links last hosted the British Open.
PerryGolf, the leader in deluxe international golf travel for more than two decades, is now accepting reservations for its July 15-22, 2007 tour onboard the 122-passenger Clipper Adventurer. This is the second time that PerryGolf has utilized the Clipper for an Open tour culminating at Carnoustie.
After guests arrive in Glasgow and transfer to Greenock, the exclusively chartered expedition vessel makes stops for golf at Prestwick, Ballyliffin, Royal Dornoch, Royal Aberdeen and Kingsbarns, as well as for sightseeing along the spectacular western coast of Scotland, the island of Arran, Inverewe Gardens, Loch Ness, Crathes Castle and the historic city of Aberdeen. While the Clipper Adventurer is berthed at Dundee, guests may attend the final two rounds of the Open Championship at Carnoustie, which is hosting the Championship for the seventh time.
"This tour combines a spectacular assemblage of links courses with an opportunity to experience the Open on what many regard as the most challenging course in the championship rota," said Gordon Dalgleish, president of PerryGolf. "Changes currently underway promise to make Carnoustie play even firmer and faster, in the classic links tradition."
The tour includes meals, guaranteed tee times and green fees, ground transportation, sightseeing for non-golfers, admission to the Open Championship for scheduled rounds, gratuities, local taxes and service charges. Per person cost for the tour begins at $6,925.00 for golfers and $5,825.00 for non-golfers.
