For a man who has performed on the QE2 an exhibition hall in east London might seem a bit of a step down – but not for trick-shot specialist David Edwards.
Edwards, the director of golf at Forest Pines in Lincolnshire, is a former European Tour player and has competed in the Open championship and three PGA Championships.
His golf trick-shot shows are famous the world over, having been performed for the last 15 years in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Cyprus, France, Portugal, Morocco, Ireland, Dubai, Nigeria, Barbados and on various cruise ships including the QE2. He also performed at the Golf Europe show in Munich in 2005 and at this year’s Icexpo in Iceland.
Edwards is never happier than when performing in front of an appreciative audience – and they don’t come more appreciative than that at the London Golf Show, where this year he will be demonstrating his amazing skills twice a day for four days from April 27-30.
The former president and captain of the Yorkshire PGA said: "I was delighted to be asked to put on my show at the London Golf Show. I was at the event last year and it was a huge success – so I’m thrilled to be part of it again.
"I’ll be putting on two shows each day for four days, and I’m looking forward to it immensely. The crowd are knowledgeable because they are virtually all golfers, so it will be great fun."
Edwards starts his show with a simple routine of hitting golf balls with a golf club in each hand. But that’s just a warm up which will be followed by many spectacular shots using hose pipes, high tees, left-handed and right-handed clubs.
London Golf Show marketing director Andy Barwell said: "David Edwards is renowned for his entertaining shows and will bring a whole new dimension to our event.
"Last year we had a taster of what the trick shot shows entail, but this year David will be doing his full routine. And, yet, it’s just part of the show.
"We’re determined to cover all aspects of golf at the London Golf Show and the presence of David Edwards’ show is testament to that fact."
The London Golf Show returns to ExCeL, London, from April 27-30, and will cover an area the size of five football pitches, with a four-day retail exhibition aimed at all standards of golfer.
