February 9, 2006

The ShopRite LPGA Classic and its title sponsor, Wakefern Food Corporation, have presented a record $1,804,140 in proceeds from the 2005 tournament to 57 beneficiaries. The contribution represents the largest amount donated to charity by any LPGA tournament in 2005. A complete listing of those beneficiaries is attached.

Included in that amount is $139,140 from the tournament’s Birdies fore babies fund®, which benefits maternal newborn services at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and Shore Memorial Hospital. These proceeds were generated by corporate and individual sponsors of the Birdies fore babies fund®, and the Women’s Forum, presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and GlaxoSmithKline, and sponsored by Kotex®. LPGA players and Pro-Am participants also pledged money to the fund for each birdie they made during the tournament and Pro-Am respectively.

Overall, the ShopRite Classic and Wakefern have now contributed more than $12 million to its beneficiaries in the past 20 years.

"We’re very pleased and proud to be able to make such an extraordinary contribution to so many worthy charities," said tournament chairman Larry Harrison. "We’re also very grateful for Wakefern’s support, which has enabled us to significantly increase our charitable contributions over the years. The fact that our tournament has now distributed over $12 million in charitable contributions is a credit to our sponsors, fans, volunteers and, of course, the players, all of whom have helped make this such a successful event."

"We’re delighted to have played an important role in the tremendous growth and success of this tournament for the past 14 years," said Joe Colalillo, chairman of Wakefern Food Corporation. "Moreover, we are enormously proud to be associated with an event that through its charitable contributions helps so many people in the region, throughout the state of New Jersey and beyond."

The $1.5 million 2006 ShopRite LPGA Classic is scheduled for May 29 – June 4 at Seaview Resort and Spa, a Marriott Resort, in Galloway Township, NJ.
