The Maxwell Media Marketing Golf Excellence Awards are based on a consortium of golf journalists, consumer response, professional golfers, and other industry insiders who deem a product worthy of mention at the PGA Show. Voters have seen and evaluated each product for its innovation, consumer acceptance, product quality and worthiness to enhance the game of golf and ease of play. Pinfire Golf, Anaheim, California entered the scene at the 2005 PGA Show and in only their first year were able to grab a foothold on Tours with their innovative and highly stylized all aluminum milled putters. The putters are distinctive in color, design, and best of all due to their high MOI put a forward roll on the ball that is second to none. www.pinfiregolf.com
Feel Golf Company, Monterey, California has always been most well known for their outstanding wedges, and two years ago introduced the Tip Taper Technologyâ?¢ of the Full Releaseâ?¢ grip which reverses the taper from the traditional grip making it thinner near the butt and gradually larger in diameter down the shaft. The result is a better "finger grip" with the left hand and more control with the right. The player just naturally releases better through impact. This product not only gained ground and acceptance from consumers and some Tour Players, but retail giants Golfsmith, Edwin Watts, Golf Galaxy , TGW and others as well as 22 countries have all got on the bandwagon. www.feelwedges.com
Element 21 Golf, Toronto, Canada. This new company introduced the radical new Shockâ?¢ driver at the 2006 show. The new driver head, the result of years of research and design by the former head of R & D at True Temper, Howard Butler, utilizes the little known element Scandium (element 21) which allows better optimization of the bulge and roll bringing more potential energy to the ball on miss-hits, and drastically increasing accuracy and length. The louvered crown adds a distinctive look to this new weapon.

Balance Certified Golf, Harvest, Alabama. This company joined the golf family in 2000 on the premise of adding feel and balance to any club with the Pro-Balanceâ?¢ (counterweight) system. Since that time, hundreds of Tour professionals have added the system to their clubs. Golf giant Golfsmith introduced a cheap knockoff into the mix last year, but the vast majority of golfers prefer the personalized custom fitting that only BCG delivers. At this writing, the product is a mainstay of putter companies on Tour and custom club builders. This year, the company introduced the do-it-yourself blister pack which allows consumers to fit up to three clubs for under $100.00. www.balance-certified.com
United Sports Technology, the graphite shaft giant (UST) released the Frequency Filterâ?¢ putter shaft at the 2006 show. Licensed and developed by the team at Balance-Certified Golf, the shaft is the first designed exclusively for putters. The shaft features a fusion of steel on the lower part of the shaft and graphite at the top with a secret "diffuser" which literally "filters" unwanted vibrations resulting in better feedback and a clean distinctive feel at impact. This product is in great demand on Tour and must be tried to be appreciated.
Soldius, a new company from the Netherlands has developed an amazing portable solar power pack which can recharge your iPOD, your cell phone, or your Blackberry and has been incorporated into a line of golf bags and back packs. While we all hate the annoyance of cell phones on the golf course, the fact is, they are here to stay for many professionals, (including Tour players) who simply "must" stay in touch with "their people." The super intelligent software is able to detect which application is needed to deliver the correct charge. Under a $100, retail.

The MacWet Sports glove. This new type glove has been selling in Europe for some time now and has application in all sports. The amazing material has the highest adhesion quality of any type material and holds that adhesion either wet or dry. Its natural wicking properties allow the hands to stay dry in hot conditions, and literally play in a downpour and still hold onto the club. The product is sold with both a left and a right hand glove in the package. It has been on the hands of jockeys whose hands must have feel and adhesion. www.macwetsports.com
The Pilot Putter. This new entry from Europe is both amazingly beautiful and wonderfully functional. This black beauty made of milled stainless has two elliptical tracks coming from the face of the club which act as an optical framing system, which alternately show orange if you are not on plane and pure white when you are. This is the first 3D optical alignment system, and in the words of one senior golf writer, "there have been a lot of alignment systems out there, but this is the best I have seen." Good enough for him, good enough for me. www.pilotputters.com
