Specially Designed Program Targets Each Student’s Needs For Practice And Play
PALM COAST, Fla., Feb. 15, 2006â?¦Playing good golf requires more than a good swing and high-tech equipment, which is why Mary Hafeman, head golf professional at Ocean Hammock Golf Club, has created a two-day golf school that will show students how they can take their best game from the practice tee to the golf course.
Hafeman and Cindy Miller, each recognized among the Top 50 women golf instructors in America by Golf for Women magazine, along with former tour professional Allen Miller, will guide participants through morning lessons and afternoon play on the weekend of April 22-23, 2006, at the award-winning Ocean Hammock Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. With a student-teacher maximum of 3-to-1, each instructor is able to best analyze each golfer’s swing, on the practice tee and through video review, and play with them in a foursome each afternoon to examine ways to maximize shot execution and course management.
"Our method allows guests to get on the golf course side by side with a golf professional to better understand how to play the game," said Hafeman, who played on the LPGA Tour from 1982 to 1985, when a series of injuries prevented her from participating regularly. "We are always able to help people with their swing, but it doesn’t matter if they can’t apply it to the golf course."
Each day is to begin with breakfast with the professionals, followed by three hours of instruction. The group breaks for lunch together and then heads out to play nine holes on the oceanfront course, named by Golf Digest as one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses. Cost of the two-day school is $1,250 per person, with accommodations at the Resort beginning at just $299 per night for a luxury three-bedroom oceanfront condominium at Cinnamon Beach. Accommodations are in addition to the school fee. The two-day school is to be limited to nine students.
Hafeman, a nationally ranked amateur and collegian before turning pro, is a member of the PGA of America and the LPGA. She was elected to the University of Florida’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998, based on her outstanding collegiate golf career. She has been head golf professional at Ocean Hammock Golf Club since 2003.
Cindy Miller, who has earned LPGA Teacher of the Year honors, last year participated in The Golf Channel’s reality hit show "The Big Break III: Ladies Only." She is a certified personality trainer and mental golf coach.
Allen Miller, who has taught various tour legends, is a renowned short-game authority. His experience as a world-class competitor, from his amateur days on through his career on the PGA and Champions Tours, provides a wealth of knowledge and insight for students to absorb.
