Multi-faceted sponsorship promotes integrated wellness for LPGA members
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 15, 2006 – A new LPGA partnership will soon enable the world’s leading female golfers to receive health and wellness advice from the world’s leading health resort company.
Canyon Ranch, the gold standard of life enhancement vacations, has joined the LPGA sponsorship family, as announced today by LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens and Canyon Ranch Vice President Roxanne Housley.
The LPGA/Canyon Ranch relationship will evolve as players and wellness professionals exchange ideas and information. One of the first initiatives will bring award-winning Canyon Ranch chefs to select tournament sites to prepare healthy foods that are nutritious and great tasting for the players. The first location for this program will be the Safeway International Presented by Coca-Cola, March 16-19, at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
"The LPGA is more than thrilled to partner with Canyon Ranch," said Carolyn F. Bivens, LPGA commissioner. "Canyon Ranch represents the absolute best in fitness, relaxation and nutritional services—all of which meet the needs of our athletes as they train and play hard throughout the season. Canyon Ranch’s commitment to help LPGA members achieve or maintain a healthy lifestyle makes this relationship a perfect fit for our organization and our members."
Bivens and Housley unveiled the partnership to LPGA players yesterday at the first official designated player meeting of the season. "Canyon Ranch understands the importance and the challenges of being healthy, energetic and at peak performance when preparing for the season and while traveling to tournaments. Sharing our expertise in wellness lifestyles with LPGA players is a true honor," said Housley.
Another feature of this multi-faceted sponsorship is the presentation of an all-inclusive stay at one of Canyon Ranch’s two destination resorts to every winner of an LPGA event in the United States. Canyon Ranch President Kevin Kelly will be on-site at this week’s SBS Open at Turtle Bay and next week’s Fields Open in Hawaii to make the awards to the event champions.
