Nike Golf’s SasQuatch Driver and Irons Are the Winningest on Tour so Far in 2006
BEAVERTON, Ore. (February 20, 2006) – Another extraordinary year is unfolding for Nike Golf as its talented tour staff members and Nike Golf equipment combine for winning results. After this past weekend’s victory by Nike Golf Tour staff member Rory Sabbatini at the Nissan Invitational, Nike Golf is dominating the PGA Tour with three victories in only seven events so far in 2006. Further evidence of Nike Golf’s dominance is that Sabbatini and fellow Nike Golf Tour staff member Chad Campbell are number one and two on the PGA Tour’s 2006 money list, respectively.
Sabbatini’s victory substantiates that the common thread to success is the SasQuatch Driver, the Nike One Platinum ball and Nike Golf irons, whether it’s the blades, the Pro Combos, or Nike’s NDS irons. Currently, the SasQuatch Driver and Nike irons are the winningest driver and irons on the PGA Tour. Thus, the winning performances generated by Nike Golf’s athletes as well as Nike Golf’s engineers in every single category, continues to prevail.
In less than six months, the biggest footprint in golf, the SasQuatch Driver, has won nine times globally and five on the PGA Tour. In 2005, K.J. Choi and Carl Pettersson won with the SasQuatch less than two months after switching. This year, Chad Campbell, Tiger Woods and Sabbatini left indelible yellow tracks with the SasQuatch for a total of three victories early in the season.
Sabbatini, who switched to the SasQuatch Tour Driver in August of 2005, has performed skillfully since the beginning of the season, having posted two runner-up finishes prior to last week’s victory. His one-stroke win represents the third PGA Tour victory of his career and his first using the SasQuatch Tour Driver.
The par-3 16th hole was a pivotal moment for Sabbatini as he was facing a four-way tie and needed to make birdie to take charge. Using Nike Golf’s NDS irons, Sabbatini hit his tee shot to within five feet for birdie and made his putt to lead by one stroke and an eventual win. Rounding out Sabbatini’s winning arsenal is the 15-degree SasQuatch Fairway metal and the SV 55 and 60-degree wedges. Sabbatini also sported Nike Golf apparel, a Dri-FIT Tour glove and SP 6 footwear.
