It’s All About The People

In our latest conversation with Jeff Gallatin, the man behind Pro Club Cleaner, he was in a rather celebratory mood. He and JR had just returned to Ann Arbor from deliveries to the West Coast and Midwest, and surprised every one in the office with a dinner to mark the 6th anniversary of the first placement of a Pro Club machine.

The way the story goes, as Jeff tells it, is that during the development of the machine, he consulted with some of the local "Green Grass" Pros at nearby golfing facilities, leaving them with a machine to try out and give him some feed back. Well, they then directed him to some other facilities that might also be interested in trying out Pro Club, and referred him to the various golf industry shows. It was from the 2000 PGA Merchandise Show that Jeff made his first placement with Richard Iwaszko, Head Pro at Pocasset Golf Club out on Cape Cod in Pocasset, Massachusetts.

Meeting Rich turned out to be lucky break, as he became a mentor to Jeff in his discovery of the nature of the market and the workings of the networked community of Golf Professionals. Of course, it’s been all about the people, Jeff says. No mater where he’s gone, over and over, he says he’s always been struck with how warm, helpful and friendly every one turns out to be, saying he’s always feeling like a member of the club. He figures it must go hand in hand with the service factor in the industry. The best, he says, are always looking for something to help the golfer enjoy the game more and just play a better round. And Pro Club, he says, seems to be working out for them. Pocasset, like other facilities, have gone to two machines; one for the cart barn to help staff with club cleaning in the bag storage, and the other set out for their member’s use as they come off the course and driving range.

The way it works, is that Pro Club power washes each individual golf club head or grip in two to three seconds or an entire set of golf clubs and grips in about two to three minutes. Golfers insert their clubs one by one into a chamber where they’re greeted by a series of stationary brushes and strategically placed spray-jets that peck the dirt off the club-face without using any additives or chemicals – strictly high water pressure. The machine takes less than 5 minutes to assemble, it’s maintenance free, and there are no moving parts. Unlike most club cleaners, this one will do the grips too. Clubs can be fed shaft first and will emerge grease and grime free for a nice tacky grip… It’s A Great Way to Service Your Golf Clientele.
