TaylorMade’s New r7 425 Driver Picks up 2nd and 3rd Victories

CARLSBAD, Calif. (February 23, 2006) -TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Loren Roberts last week became the first player in Champions Tour history to win the first three official events on the schedule. Roberts, 50, captured the ACE Group Classic on Sunday with a 14-under-par 202. In his bag: TaylorMade r7® 425 driver, TaylorMade racâ?¢ irons, TaylorMade Rescue® Mid hybrid, and a TaylorMade rac pitching wedge. Key to his victory was his 81% driving accuracy with his new r7 425, which helped limit his bogey count to two.

Last month Roberts won the first and second Champions Tour events of 2006, the MasterCard Championship at Hualalai and the Turtle Bay Championship. He’s a remarkable 51-under par during his three-event winning streak.

Also winning last week were fellow TaylorMade staffers Charlie Wi and Paul Sheehan. Wi fired a final-round 63 to win the Maybank Malaysian Open, while Sheehan carded a final-round 69 to win the Jacob’s Creek Open in Australia. Both players wielded TaylorMade drivers; Wi the TaylorMade r7 425 and Sheehan the original r7 quad. Roberts’ and Wi’s wins with the r7 425 make it three victories in the early going since the new driver was introduced on tour in January.

Since its introduction, the r7 425 has taken professional golf by storm. Last week it ranked as the No. 1 driver model on the PGA, European, Champions and Nationwide Tours. Additionally, TaylorMade was the No. 1 overall driver brand on all four tours. Amazingly, TaylorMade was the No. 1 driver brand on all four tours in every event in 2005. So far, 2006 is shaping up to be no different.
