Administaff & UnitedHealthcare Each Extend Sponsorship
HOUSTON – Feb. 24, 2006 – The Administaff Small Business Classic presented by UnitedHealthcare took another step in creating a Champions Tour tradition for the Houston area today with a sponsorship agreement through 2008.
Administaff, a Houston based company, which has been the title sponsor since the tournament’s birth in 2004, has extended its sponsorship through 2008. Presenting sponsor UnitedHealthcare has also extended its sponsorship of the two-year-old Champions Tour event to be held Oct. 9-15 at Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, TX.
"We have been fortunate to have Administaff as our title sponsor from the beginning and are extremely grateful the company has found this relationship to be rewarding," said Tournament Director Bryan Naugle. "Our goal from the start has been to make this event one of the premier tournaments on the Champions Tour. The executives at Administaff and the employees who have volunteered during tournament week have always shared that vision. It is wonderful to have sponsors like Administaff and UnitedHealthcare as we seek to improve each year."
Larry Nelson captured the inaugural Administaff Small Business Classic in 2004 and Mark McNulty will defend his 2005 title at this year’s $1.6 million event. When the first Administaff Small Business Classic was played in 2004, it marked the return of the Champions Tour to the Houston area for the first time in nearly 10 years.
"This tournament has far exceeded our expectations during the last two years. We welcome the opportunity to extend our sponsorship of this prestigious Champions Tour event because of what it represents for our small business clients, the charities we support and our dedicated employees," said Paul J. Sarvadi, chairman and chief executive officer of Administaff. "This tournament helps to recognize the important role that small business plays in the American economy, and also supports Administaff’s commitment to being an advocate for small business."
UnitedHealthcare joined the tournament as presenting sponsor in 2005.
"UnitedHealthcare is excited to continue our relationship as the presenting sponsor of this outstanding event," said Simeon Schindelman, President of UnitedHealthcare’s Small Business Group. "We enjoy working with premier companies such as Administaff and ProLinks, and we are particularly proud that the proceeds of this tournament go directly to support critical health initiatives such as cancer research."
The Administaff Small Business Classic will be the 28th official event on the Champions Tour schedule in 2006.
"In just two short years, the Administaff Small Business Classic has become a premier event on the Champions Tour," said Champions Tour President Rick George. "Administaff has been a very engaged and supportive title sponsor in its hometown, and has contributed a great deal to the initial success the Classic has achieved. Not only is Administaff good for small business, they are good for the Champions Tour. We really appreciate their support and that of UnitedHealthcare and are delighted with the association we have with both."
The Administaff Small Business Classic benefits the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas and Golfer’s Against Cancer.
