POTTSTOWN, Pa. (February 23, 2006) – The GolfStyles Live radio show, which will debut on Saturday, March 4, 2006, has signed the Norco Auto Group as its presenting sponsor. The Norco Auto Group, based in Pottstown, is one of the Philadelphia area’s largest car dealerships – featuring Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models.
"This is a great opportunity to partner with a leading voice in the golf world and also promote our products to an upscale audience," said Jim Phillips, president of the Norco Auto Group.
In addition to serving as presenting sponsor, Phillips will co-host a weekly segment titled "The Traveling Golfer." A single-digit handicap golfer, Phillips is a recent president of Brookside CC in Pottstown, a member at Bellewood CC in North Coventry Township, a member of the advisory board of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship and a member at Old Marsh CC in Jupiter, Fla. He is one of the most well-traveled and knowledgeable amateurs in the Philadelphia area and will take listeners to a different golf course – both locally and around the country – each week.
GolfStyles Live is produced in affiliation with GolfStyles Philadelphia and the other six regions of the magazine – New England, New Jersey, Ohio, Washington, Carolina and Atlanta. The fast-paced, interview-driven show will be hosted by Tony Leodora, associate publisher/editor of GolfStyles Philadelphia. Leodora, an award-winning golf writer, also has a number of years of experience in radio. In 2003 he hosted a show that was honored as best golf radio show in the country by the International Network of Golf.
"Jim Phillips is not just another sponsor," explained Leodora. "He is a passionate golfer first, an avid reader of GolfStyles Philadelphia second, and a pillar of the Philadelphia community third. He is the embodiment of the loyal GolfStyles Philadelphia subscriber. Working with him is a blast."
The new show will air from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP, 990-AM, the Philadelphia area’s fastest-growing talk station. Aside from news talk, WNTP is also the home of other sports programming such as Penn State football and basketball, Villanova basketball and football, and Drexel basketball.
In addition to "The Traveling Golfer," there will be interviews with some of the biggest and brightest names from local, regional and national golf each Saturday morning. Also, the show will feature other segments, such as "The Golfer’s Closet," "The Shore Report" and "The Healthy Golfer."
GolfStyles is the third-largest golf magazine in the country, with a circulation of more than 320,000 per issue. The magazine is published in seven regions – Philadelphia, Washington, New Jersey, New England, Ohio, Carolina and Atlanta – nine times per year.
