CHATSWORTH, CA. – The long awaited new driver from Alpha Golf was first unveiled at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show last month, after more than 2 years of development, research, and testing. The V5 titanium driver features a uniquely engineered pear shape body for unparalleled performance. With an optimized titanium-constructed head, the V5 provides an extremely low and centered center of gravity delivering perfected launch conditions for players seeking distance and workability. The V5 driver effectively addresses a predicament many larger size drivers face. The new Alpha driver’s innovation is found in where the center of the driver’s highest region of COR and the center of gravity position on the face directly coincide.
Contrary to rumors, the V5 does not replace the championship winning V2 driver, but instead enhances the entire Alpha equipment line for 2006. "The introduction of our new V5 driver has been well worth all the work and the wait. We started with a highly effective pear-shape construction and crafted the head with the specific goal of attaining a very low center of gravity for a lower and longer boring trajectory to maximize total horizontal carry distance. In conjunction with our 15-3-3-3 titanium forged Active Beta face insert and deep face design, the V5 driver achieves the maximum coefficient of restitution (COR) which means maximum momentum transfer ratio allowed by the USGA. The introduction of the V5 driver truly complements our existing Alpha driver line by providing for the better players and fast swingers. We are excited to serve those seeking unparalleled workability and performance with this club," says Dr. Jim Yeh, president and founder of Alpha Golf, "and will continue to push for strides in performance enhancements with every club we make."
Also featured as benefits of the V5 driver is the Alpha signature satin black face which allows for erasable point-of-impact marks, the smallest allowable modulus for maximum initial ball velocity, and a uniformly thin outer face for consistent flexibility across the face. The V5 driver, available in lofts 7.5°, 9.0°, 10.5°, and 12°, will begin shipping on March 15.
