MALVERN, Pa. — (March 7, 2006) – Once again, the best of Philadelphia’s celebrity golfers and PGA professionals will be featured at White Manor CC, when the third annual Divine 9 Open team golf championship returns on Friday, May 19.
Over the past two years, the event, which features two golf tournaments and an evening cocktail party, has raised more that $275,000 from a wide variety of corporations, professionals and individuals to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year, the bar has been raised even higher.
"The growth of the tournament from the first year to the second year was amazing," said tournament director Jeff Dittus, who dedicated the event in the memory of his late father, Mort, an avid golfer and White Manor member who always treasured his trusty Callaway Divine 9-wood. "There is no reason we shouldn’t expect the same kind of growth this year. People love the golf course, love the format and love the event. We have a loyal following that continues to grow."
The heralded White Manor CC course was renovated by acclaimed architect Bobby Weed and reopened in 2004 in time for the inaugural Divine 9 event. Since then it has matured and reclaimed a position among Philadelphia’s elite courses.
Amateurs are reminded that they can play in either the morning Pro-Am shotgun or the afternoon Celebrity-Corporate shotgun.
