Resort & Golf Marketing will handle public relations and promotional services
Bloomfield Hills Mich., (March 8, 2006) – Resort & Golf Marketing, a leading public relations firm in the golf and travel industry, has been retained to provide public relations and promotional services for the Traverse City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Resort & Golf Marketing (R&GM) will provide golf and travel public relations and marketing strategies.
R&GM, formerly known as Golf Marketing Services, recently changed its name to reflect its expanded public relations marketing services, which include a full range of marketing communications and promotions. The company has more than 20 years experience in providing public relations, marketing, and photography for golf courses and resort destinations throughout Michigan. R&GM is based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to represent the Traverse City CVB", said Dave Richards, CEO of Resort & Golf Marketing. "My family has had a cottage on Long Lake for my entire life, which has allowed me to be intimately familiar with the area. While we will concentrate on golf, we will promote everything the Traverse City region has to offer, including world-class golf, outdoor activities, the popular National Cherry Festival, new Cherry Capital Airport, as well as beach and water activities", continues Richards.
Destination is putting more emphasis on promoting golf
The Traverse City CVB is hoping this new direction, and its new relationship with Resort & Golf Marketing, will increase awareness and recognition of what a top golf destination Traverse City is.
"The Traverse City area has a world-class golf product and tremendous supporting infrastructure to provide a great golf destination experience. We look forward to working with Dave and Kevin and their network of contacts, to promote the Traverse City golf experience and to gain the recognition it deserves as a golf destination," said Brad Van Dommelen, president of the Traverse City Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"We haven’t been properly promoting Traverse City as the top-of-the-line golf destination it is," said Van Dommelen. "Instead of giving this region its due as one of the premiere golf destinations in the country, we’ve treated golf as just one of many activities people can engage in when they’re vacationing here."
It’s an understandable oversight. For more than a century, Traverse City was seen as the quintessential "Up North" resort town, the kind of place where people came to bask on the beaches, fish in the lakes, sail on the bay, and walk beneath the fragrant pines, and didn’t expect or demand much more. But the area has changed dramatically over the past few decades, with trendy new shops, galleries and restaurants, award-winning wineries and a sophisticated art and music scene.
The R&GM team is multi-faceted
The R&GM team working with the Traverse City CVB includes Richards, based in Southeast Michigan and Kevin Frisch who resides in Northern Michigan. R&GM specializes in golf and travel media relations, providing story ideas, press releases, media trips, and professional golf, travel, and lifestyle photography.
