Local qualifying for the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open Championship will once again be held in Hawaii this coming May.

This is one of approximately fifteen 18-hole local qualifiers for the U.S. Women’s Open Championship that will be played from June 29th through July 2nd at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I.
The United States Golf Association must receive entries for the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open Championship by May 3rd. The cost is $125 to enter.
To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at (908) 234-2300 or enter online at the USGA web site at www.usga.org. Entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4. Entrants must select one of approximately fifteen local qualifying sites and one of the seven sectional qualifying sites.
REGISTRATION is NOW OPEN on-line at www.usga.org.
Eighteen-hole local qualifiers will be held nationwide from May 15-23rd, with the top finishers advancing to sectional qualifying at seven sites on June 12-13th. Hawaii once again will host a sectional qualifier this year.

Approximately 90 total spots will be awarded to fill the championship field of 156 players. The championship format will be four rounds of stroke play.
The U.S. Women’s Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
