March 14, 2006, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Dunes Golf and Beach Club has been named one of Golfweek’s "Top 100 Classic Courses" in its annual "America’s Best Courses" rankings. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, The Dunes Golf and Beach Club was ranked No. 89 and was also one of only two South Carolina courses to make the list with the Yeamans Hall Club of Charleston, ranked at No. #42.

As part of the "America’s Best Courses" rankings, Dunes Club was also named the fourth best public access course in South Carolina, along with five other Grand Strand area courses selected to the list of 10 which included Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Tidewater Golf Club, TPC at Myrtle Beach, Grande Dunes and the Love Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf.

Golfweek, which defines a classic course as being built prior to 1960, rated The Dunes Club based on the ease and intimacy of routing, integrity of design, quality of feature shaping, natural setting and overall land planning among other categories.

"We have truly made a commitment to be one of the most esteemed courses in the nation," said Brian Vest, the Dunes Club’s head golf professional. "Robert Trent Jones’ genius ingenuity has really made this course stand the test of time and continue to flourish. It is an honor to be recognized by Golfweek as one of America’s best classic courses."

About The Dunes Golf and Beach Club

The idea to build the Dunes Golf and Beach Club was formed in 1947 by the area’s local businessmen. Since its inception, it has proved to be a world class course, offering the best in golf and service. It was the host to the prestigious Energizer Senior Tour Championship for 1994-1999. The Robert Trent Jones course has been named one of the nation’s "Top 100 Courses" by Golf Magazine, Golf Digest and Golfweek, and the famed 13th hole has been selected by Golf Digest as one of the "Best 18 Holes in America." The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, the premier golf course in Myrtle Beach, is located at 9000 North Ocean Boulevard.
