Hi-Tec’s young South African player Charl Schwartzel has been named The European Tour Golfer of the Month for February after he successfully defended his Sunshine Tour Order of Merit title by winning the final event, The Vodacom Tour Championship.
The victory ensured that Schwartzel not only reached the summit of the Order of Merit but also broke into the top 100 on the Official World Golf Ranking. His 4 stroke victory over countryman Darren Fichardt secures him entry into The 135th Open Championship and into the remaining World Golf Championship events in 2006.
