MALVERN, Pa. -( March 17, 2006) – The Divine 9 Open and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are pleased to announce the participation of WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show in the Divine 9 Open on May 19 at White Manor Country Club.
On-air personality and show host Preston Elliot will serve as the emcee for the evenings’ presentations and festivities. Joining Elliot on the links from the No. 1 rated morning show in Philadelphia are on-air staff members Casey "Boy" Foster and Nick McIlwain.
"The Divine 9 Open looks like it’s really turning into a special event for the Philadelphia golf community and we at the Preston & Steve Show are very much excited to be a part of it," says Preston Elliot, Preston and Steve Show host.
The Preston and Steve Show has a proven track record as successful fundraisers. Their 8th annual Campout For Hunger food drive, which benefited PhilAbundance, saw record contributions this year. The fall 2005 campaign helped to raise more than 80 tons of food and $10,000 for needy Philadelphia families during the holiday season. To date the Preston and Steve Campout For Hunger drive has raised more than 300 tons of food.
The third annual Divine 9 Open team golf championship features the best of Philadelphia’s celebrity golfers and PGA professionals in two golf tournaments followed by an evening cocktail party. To date the event has raised more than $275,000 from a wide variety of corporations, professionals and individuals to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The event founded by Jeff Dittus is in memory of his late father, Mort, an avid golfer and White Manor member who always treasured his trusty Callaway Divine 9-wood.
"The Preston and Steve Show is a great addition to the current list of celebrities and PGA Professionals," explains Jeff Dittus, Divine 9 Founder and Tournament Chairman. "It certainly helps to span the generation gap and broaden the appeal of the event to a larger audience."
Amateurs are reminded that they can play in either the morning Pro-Am shotgun or the afternoon Celebrity-Corporate shotgun. To reserve a spot or for more information on the tournament, call The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society office at 610-521-8274, ext. 228, or go to the website at www.divine9open.org.
