With a Googleâ?¢ survey finding the British spend more time on the internet than watching TV there has never been a better time to launch the first 24-hour, free-to-view broadband golf channel.
GolfBug.tv is an exciting new internet-based TV station which will be launched at the London Golf Show, from April 27-30.
The channel will provide enthusiasts with an informative and entertaining daily schedule of programming featuring areas of interest for players of all levels.
Ofcom, the British telecommunications regulator, noted a slight drop in television in audiences in February for the first time since late 2003, while there are now more than 10 million broadband connections in the UK and this figure is growing by 70,000 a week.
This exceeds the number of people who have access to the Sky Digital platform.
The managing director of GolfBug.tv, Andrew Cooke, explained: "The channel will combine news from the pro tours, expert tuition, information about some of the world’s best courses and resorts, interviews with leading characters in the game, as well as reviews of the latest equipment.
"There will be great action from events, old and new, and GolfBug will be looking to carry on the fun and humour that golfers share at the weekend."
He added: "Television on broadband combines the best of traditional broadcasting with the control and interaction you would expect from a website. Therefore, viewers will be able to watch a daily schedule of programming, but also view video content on demand as and when and where they wish: at home, at work or while travelling."
The London Golf Show marketing director, Andy Barwell, said: "Launching GolfBug.tv at the London Golf Show is ideal for both parties as we are able to utilise the new channel as our official online TV partner, while the channel gets a huge event to help launch its presence."
Cooke added: "We will be launching with a broadcast from the London Golf Show and we conservatively estimate an audience of 10,000 for each day of the show."
The London Golf Show returns to ExCeL, London, from April 27-30, and will cover an area the size of five football pitches, with a four-day retail exhibition aimed at all standards of golfer. Check out the website at: www.londongolfshow.com.
