CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 22, 2006) – Take Your Daughter to the Course Week, scheduled July 10-16 at participating courses nationwide, is expected to attract a record number of participants in the program’s seventh year. An initiative of the National Golf Course Owners Association’s Get Linked Play Golf player development program, Take Your Daughter to the Course Week is designed to introduce junior girls to the game and encourage family interaction on the course.

More than 1,000 courses and 32,000 junior girls participated in the event in 2005. With additional promotion from the NGCOA and supporting organizations, along with PGA professional Brad Faxon serving as spokesperson, participation in this year’s event is expected to hit record levels.

"As a PGA Tour player and the father of four daughters, I understand the importance of attracting more girls to the game," Faxon said. "Take Your Daughter to the Course Week is a great way for golfers to get involved in player development and to share their favorite sport with their favorite girls."

NGCOA CEO Mike Hughes said Take Your Daughter to the Course Week is an easy way for courses to increase play in their communities and for parents to enjoy time with their daughters on the course. "This is a simple-to-implement program for course owners and operators and one that can start thousands of young players in the game of a lifetime," he said.

Courses participating in the program will offer free greens fees and a free instructional clinic to junior girls who are accompanied by a paying adult. In addition, many courses will conduct special events such as fashions shows and tournaments to enhance the experience for participants. A list of participating courses is shown at www.getlinkedplaygolf.com and www.playgolfamerica.com.

The PGA of America, LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, LPGA and the Executive Women’s Golf Association are supporting sponsors of Take Your Daughter to the Course Week.
