March 22, 2006 – Birmingham, AL – Honours Golf is pleased to announce the appointment of David Shaffer as the general manager for Reunion Golf & Country Club. Honours Golf currently manages the 18-hole private club located in Madison, Mississippi.
"David comes to Reunion from one of our premier properties and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the private club industry," stated CEO, Bob Barrett. "He will be a great asset to the Club as we build the membership and develop a new clubhouse. "
Shaffer, a graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, brings with him over 14 years of experience in the golf industry. Before joining Reunion Golf & Country Club, he served as assistant general manager for the highly acclaimed Slammer & Squire and King & Bear golf courses at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. Prior to that, Shaffer served as director of golf for The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida and director of golf at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Florida, respectively. He started his career as assistant golf professional at Jonathan’s Landing in Jupiter, Florida and has held various positions at other Florida clubs including Island Dunes Golf Course in Stuart, Florida.
Shaffer was recently awarded "PGA Professional of the Year" from the North Florida Section of the PGA and named to the President’s Council by the PGA of America for his contribution to growing the game of golf. He was previously named as the "PGA Merchandiser of the Year," and received community service and junior golf awards. He has been recognized for individual achievements in Golf Digest, Golfweek and Golf World magazines and has made 11 holes-in-one and five double eagles in his career.
In his new role, Shaffer will oversee the entire operations for the private country club, as well as play an integral role in the development of Reunion’s membership and future clubhouse.
