Srixon is set to talk balls at the London Golf Show next month, in the nicest possible way – and the company can speak with some authority.
The Hampshire-based company is the official ball supplier to both the European Challenge Tour and the European Seniors Tour and has been manufacturing golf balls for nearly 80 years.
But golf balls is not the whole story, as the company will also be exhibiting its latest range of irons and drivers at this year’s show.
It pioneered the use of balata balls and the head office in Japan – Srixon is the sports arm of Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan – can analyse the changing forces , distortions and energies of its balls and clubs to 1/100,000,000 of a second.
The company’s marketing director, Jon Parsons, said: "With 31 international tour victories in 2005 and with Jim Furyk joining a playing staff of more than 250 -including Tim Clark, Robert Allenby and Miguel Angel Jimenez – we have some real momentum behind our golf ball range at the moment.
"The company strategy is to focus more on balls than clubs – but we will also be exhibiting our 506 driver and irons which are played by our new signing and world number seven, Jim Furyk.
"We see the London Golf Show as an ideal vehicle for us to reach discerning golfers."
Srixon is the fourth largest golf company in the world and joins many of the other major brands in exhibiting at the show: Nike, Mizuno, Wilson, Hi-Tec, MacGregor and Golfsmith among them.
Andy Barwell, marketing director for the London Golf Show, added: "Srixon is one of the biggest golf companies on the planet and has a huge media presence.
"The company’s presence at the London Golf Show is testament to the status we are achieving within the industry. More and more exhibitors are realising we are the perfect conduit by which to reach the golfing public."
The London Golf Show returns to ExCeL, London, from April 27-30, and will cover an area the size of five football pitches, with a four-day retail exhibition aimed at all standards of golfer. Check out the website at: www.londongolfshow.com.
