Denver – The Colorado Golf Association (CGA) elected its officers for 2006, headed by President Kevin Laura of Highlands Ranch Golf Club. Laura, a graduate of the Eisenhower-Evans Scholarship Program at CU-Boulder and 20-year veteran of the golf business, is general manager for the Saturday Series Pro-Ams (PGA TOUR Official Events). He is also a director of the Western Golf Association, a member of the USGA Regional Affairs Committee and a board member of both the Colorado Open Championships and the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame. Laura has served on the CGA Board of Governors for seven years, and was vice president for the last four years.
Also elected as CGA officers were Vice President Jim Lilja (South Suburban Golf Course), Vice President Bill Fowler (Rolling Hills Country Club), Treasurer Dave Cribari (Columbine Country Club), Secretary Jim Magette (The Meadows Golf Club) and legal counsel Gary Woods (Castle Pines Golf Club). Jerre Hause (Pinehurst Country Club) returns as past president.
The five new volunteers elected to the CGA Board of Governors, including Secretary Magette, are Gail Godbey (City Park Golf Course – Denver), Randy Karsh (Green Gables Country Club), Bill Pierson (Eisenhower-Evans Alumni Golf Club) and John Sova (Eisenhower Golf Club).
Former CGA Governors Joe Bourland (Boulder Country Club), M.J. Mastalir (Denver Country Club) and Larry Wall (Eaton Country Club) have been awarded Emeritus status.
