Orlando, Florida – March 23, 2006 – Marriott Golf, the world’s largest resort golf management company, today announced that Charles Sheppard has been promoted to Head Golf Professional at Marriott’s Grande Pines Golf Club, in Orlando, Florida.
In his new role, Sheppard will be responsible for overseeing all golf shop operations, retail merchandising, outings and tournament coordination. Sheppard most recently served as Tournament Coordinator and Golf Shop Supervisor at Marriott’s Grande Pines, where one of his greatest attributes was creating the "Sequence of Service," which details the consistency required to deliver a quality Marriott golf experience. In addition, Sheppard played an instrumental role in training the golf staff when the course transitioned from International Golf Club to the Steve Smyers designed Marriott’s Grande Pines Golf Club in 2004.
Prior to his time at Marriott’s Grande Pines, Sheppard spent a brief period at Hawks Landing Golf Club, in Orlando, where he served as Assistant Golf Professional. His previous experience with Marriott also included 3 years as Tournament Coordinator at International Golf Club.
Before joining the Marriott team in 2000, Sheppard’s experience in the golf industry included 2 years as the Assistant Golf Professional at Capital City Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida, and 4 years working in Golf Course Maintenance at Baseline Golf Course in Ocala, Florida. Sheppard is a graduate of Florida State University.
