A total of 103 players have been invited to the 2006 Masters Tournament, it was announced today by Hootie Johnson, Chairman of the Masters Tournament and Augusta National Golf Club. The list includes 58 US and 45 international players. Among the field are five amateurs and 16 first-time participants.
In accordance with qualifications, invitations have also been sent to Honorary Invitees. The Masters Tournament will be contested April 3-9.
Johnson also announced that Thongchai Jaidee had been issued a special invitation by the Masters Committee. Jaidee has finished among the top three on the Asian Tour Order of Merit five consecutive years and was the first Thai golfer to win an event on the PGA European Tour. The following players qualified for the Masters by finishing among the 50 leaders on the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the 2006 Masters:
