Greensboro, Ga. (March 28, 2006) – Highly acclaimed teaching professional and innovative author Charlie King has joined the team at Reynolds Plantation as Director of Instruction for the award-winning destination community on Lake Oconee.
King, ranked among the top golf instructors in the country by GOLF Magazine, brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to Reynolds Plantation, home to a collection of four golf courses, with a fifth to open in 2007. Founder and CEO of UnCommon Golf, King has authored two books – "You’re NOT Lifting Your Head," a golf novel, and the recently released "Red Zone Challenge," an engaging instructional guide that focuses on golf shots from 100 yards and less.
"Charlie King is one of the most energetic and imaginative instructors in the game of golf," said Bob Mauragas, the Vice President of Golf at Reynolds Plantation. "He is exceptional with the way he connects with his students and has a clear vision for developing a comprehensive, world-class instructional program at Reynolds Plantation."
Most recently the teaching professional at Nantucket Golf Club in Nantucket, Mass., King has served as Director of Instruction at the Academy of Golf at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and was Director of Instruction at Tuscawilla Country Club in Orlando. He also coordinated instruction for golf teachers at the Golf Academy of the South and taught nationally for The Swing’s The Thing Golf Schools. A 13-year member of the PGA of America, King has been a featured guest instructor on The Golf Channel’s Academy Live show and has appeared on numerous radio and television shows.
At Reynolds Plantation, King will incorporate group and individual programs that will utilize the Golf Club Fitting Center and cutting-edge TaylorMade Performance Lab, one of only two sites in the United States that employs technology to precisely fit golfers with custom clubs.
"The goal is to make the instructional program meet the high standards of excellence at Reynolds Plantation," King said. "We already have a spectacular setting and courses that golfers love to play. By expanding the instructional program, we can enhance the overall experience for our members and guests."
Originally from Tennessee, King attended Tennessee Tech University, where he earned a marketing degree. He and wife, Julie, have two children, Kathryn and Brian. They will reside in Watkinsville, Ga.

About Reynolds Plantation
Named the "Best of the Best" Golf Community by the Robb Report, Reynolds Plantation, located between Atlanta and Augusta, is a 10,000-acre golf and lake community with 80 miles of shoreline on beautiful Lake Oconee, one of the largest lakes in the southeast. Reynolds Plantation features 81 holes of championship golf from designers Jack Nicklaus, Bob Cupp, Tom Fazio, and Rees Jones, with a fifth course, designed by Golf Digest "Architect of the Year" Jim Engh, to open for member play in 2007. In addition to its championship golf, Reynolds Plantation features award-winning dining, swimming pools, tennis courts, pedestrian walking trails, three full-service marinas and a new lakefront Lake Club and tennis complex. Golf Magazine chose Reynolds Plantation as the site of the 2004 Golf Dream House, their first-ever attempt to build "the ultimate home for a golfer", and Golf Digest has cemented that endorsement with their first-ever such home, slated to open in 2007. Many residents’ introduction to the community is a gracious one courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, a 251-room lakefront resort and spa.
