Champions Tour Player, Golf Channel Analyst to Use Heavy Putter Exclusively
(RIDGEFIELD, Connecticut) – Boccieri Golfâ?¢ — maker of the Tour-proven Heavy Putterâ?¢, featuring a revolutionary weighting system that automatically improves the consistency of the putting stroke and reduces putts per round — today announces the signing of Champions TOUR player and The Golf Channel analyst Mark Lye to an endorsement contract.
Lye, a favorite among The Golf Channel’s on-air personalities, joined the Champions TOUR in 2003 following a 17-year career on the PGA TOUR. He will exclusively play a Heavy Putter in all golf events and display the Heavy Putter logo on his hat, bag and shirt during on and off-course appearances. Lye is also host of Boccieri Golf’s soon-to-be released Heavy Putter infomercial.
"As someone involved in professional golf for more than 30 years, I’ve seen a lot of putter technologies come and go," says Lye. "But nothing I’ve played with offers the automatic and dramatic putting stroke improvement like the Heavy Putter does. It literally improves your stroke the first time you pick it up."
Lye and Heavy Putter staff member Troy Matteson are among the many players using the Heavy Putter on TOUR, according to Darrell Survey. These professionals – as well as amateurs – benefit from the Heavy Putter’s unique weighting system that works in harmony with the body’s natural movements.
"We are thrilled to add Mark Lye to our growing list of staff players," says Stephen Boccieri, inventor of the Heavy Putter and President/CEO of Boccieri Golf. "When someone with Mark’s track record in golf entrusts his livelihood to the Heavy Putter, it further validates that the technology delivers on its promise of fewer putts per round."
Because of the Heavy Putter’s heavier, overall weight, the body instinctively activates its larger, more stable muscles to perform the putting stroke, promoting a consistent, pendulum stroke.
In addition, the Heavy Putter has a patented Weight Management System (WMSâ?¢), a 250-gram weight in the grip section. This raises the balance point 75 percent higher than conventional putters, preventing wrist-breakdown and creating greater stability and consistency during the putting stroke. Despite the added weight in the handle, the higher balance point actually makes the Heavy Putter feel lighter during the stroke. Using the adjustable tip weights, the balance point can be fine tuned for an optimal release through impact. Combined, these features result in a correct, consistent swing path, uniform pace, and precise distance and directional control.
Boccieri Golf recently unveiled its new Heavy Putter Matte Series putters at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla. Featuring the same, revolutionary weighting technology as the original Heavy Putter, the new Matte Series head is finished in sleek, dark gray and is combined with a satin shaft and midsize grip.
In addition to the difference in appearance, the Heavy Putter Matte Series carries a lower price than the Original Series, mainly due to its dramatic rise in popularity resulting in production efficiencies and cost savings passed along to retailers and consumers. The MSRP of the new Matte Series putters is $229, including the adjustable tip-weight kit. A blade model (A3-M) and mallet model (B3-M), both with heel-mounted, double-bend shafts, will be the first introduced, available to consumers in April.
More about the Heavy Putter by Boccieri Golf
The Heavy Putter has been the golf industry’s buzz since it launched its revolutionary putters at the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show. It has gained attention from Sports Illustrated, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, Robb Report, Popular Science, The Golf Channel, all national and regional golf media, and Top-25 daily newspapers. The Heavy Putter has also achieved immediate acceptance on the PGA, Nationwide and Champions Tours.
After switching to a Heavy Putter in 2004, Troy Matteson catapulted from 110th to 8th in putting on the Nationwide TOUR and finished the 2005 season as its No.1 player, breaking the single-season earnings record in the process and earning a 2006 PGA TOUR card.
The Heavy Putter represents a radical shift in putter concept, design and technology, and is touted by professional golfers, industry executives and media as the first new putter in decades that can revolutionize golf because its weighting system improves the consistency of the putting stroke automatically. They liken it to the paradigm shift that occurred with the advent of electric golf carts, metal woods, graphite tennis rackets and parabolic skis — innovations that changed how a sport is played.
In addition to the innovative Weight Management System, Heavy Putters incorporate the highest-quality, advanced-design principles in putters:
â?¢ CNC milled from 303 Stainless Steel (304 in Matte Series), a very soft metal that creates a soft putting feel
â?¢ Perimeter heel-to-toe weighting, creating a high Moment of Inertia (resistance to twisting) for better distance control, and straighter and more accurate putts
â?¢ Face-balanced heads that make it easier to square the putter head at impact
â?¢ Diamond-cut, patterned faces that optimize the golf ball’s roll and impart a soft feel at impact
â?¢ ‘Surround Sight’ semi-circle alignment aids — exclusive to the Heavy Putter — located behind the face promote on-center hits and a tighter deviation of sweet spot impact versus lines or dots
