WEST END, NC–The Carolinas Golf Association has announced that the 46th North Carolina Amateur Championship will change venues for this year’s event on June 15-18.
Due to clubhouse construction delays at Mid South Club in Southern Pines, NC the men’s state amateur championship will move two miles away to Forest Creek Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC. This will be Forest Creek’s first CGA championship.
"We felt that with the delayed construction of the clubhouse at Mid South Club, it was best for both Mid South Club and the CGA to move the event to another venue. We appreciate Mid South Club’s willingness to host the event and are thankful that Forest Creek Golf Club has agreed to host the state amateur on such short notice," said Jack Nance, CGA executive director. CGA also has extended the entry deadline to 11:59pm on Monday, May 1.
The North Carolina Amateur Championship is open to any male amateur who is a legal resident of North Carolina, has a USGA handicap index at a CGA member club that does not exceed 5.4. Approximately 144 players will compete in the championship gaining entry either through exempt status or from qualifying at one of six sites throughout the state. The six qualifying sites and dates are:
May 8 Cedarwood Country Club, Charlotte
May 10 Brier Creek Country Club, Raleigh
May 11 Kinston Country Club, Kinston
May 24 Pinewood Country Club, Asheboro
May 25 Statesville Country Club, Statesville
