Nike Sphere Technology Will Keep Athletes Cool and Dry in the Heat of Competition
BEAVERTON, Ore. (April 6, 2006) – Nike Golf, the number one golf apparel company in the world, will have significant presence and visibility as millions of viewers around the world tune in to The Masters this week. During all four rounds, members of Nike Golf’s Tour staff will be featuring technology that has led Nike Golf to the forefront of the changing landscape of golf apparel.
Nike Golf’s Tour staff is assured to keep cool and dry in the heat of competition during one of the most high-pressured events on the globe, thanks to Nike Golf’s innovative technology in its popular Nike Sphere products. During the final two rounds of the PGA Tour’s first major championship of the season, nine Nike Golf staff members will be wearing Nike Sphere Dry and Nike Sphere React polos.
Justin Leonard, Trevor Immelman, Stewart Cink, Rory Sabbatini, David Duval, KJ Choi, Chad Campbell, Stephen Ames, and Carl Pettersson will show off the collection of this high performance technical apparel that creates a personal atmosphere for each of them wearing it.
As usual, Tiger Woods will be wearing his own distinctive line, known for its elegance and style — the Tiger Woods Collection. The Tiger Woods Collection is distinguished by the silver TW marking that is subtly placed on the left sleeve of his shirts. And, of course, Woods will be making his presence known on Sunday with his familiar coral red.
One of the top selling items in Nike Golf apparel, Nike Sphere performance comes from engineered air spaces created by the material structure. Nike Sphere Dry encompasses a structure on the back of the material that pulls sweat from the skin to the material service, where it evaporates quickly. The structure also holds the surface of the material away from the skin. The product design maintains the air space between the body and material, thus reducing cling.
Nike Sphere React is Nike Golf’s latest technology and is able to react and adapt to the changes in an athlete’s environment, including conditions inside and outside the garment. The intuitive construction features tiny holes in the Nike Sphere React fabric that open up as the body heats up, allowing perspiration to evaporate and create increased airflow to the skin. After the perspiration has evaporated, the fabric closes up.
During the first and second rounds, Nike Golf athletes will showcase additional pioneering technology by Nike Golf, including Dri-Fit UV, which incorporates moisture wicking technology with added UV protection; and Body Mapping, which combines stretch and ventilation into a fabric emphasizing zone performance.
In total, 10 members of Nike Golf’s successful tour staff have been scripted and will add bright hues of team red, pacific blue, blue moon, white, olive khaki, university blue and black to an event that is recognized for the color of green.
Complementing each of the player’s Nike Golf apparel will be the popular Nike Golf SP 6 and SP 7 footwear. Also, some Nike Golf tour staff might choose to celebrate the Masters color theme by sporting white and green SP 7 footwear.
