LAURINBURG, N.C., April 10, 2006 – Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced that, according to authoritative Darrell Survey results, Golf Pride was the grip of choice for the majority of professionals at The Masters April 6-9.
The first Major of the 2006 PGA calendar, which is considered by many the greatest and most revered golf tournament in the world, featured Golf Pride grips on more than eight out of every 10 clubs used in the 90-player field. In total, Golf Pride grips were used on 1,022 clubs compared to just 238 total clubs for all other competitors’ grips.
Among the 90-player field, exactly half (45 players) chose the most used grip in golf for the majority of their clubs, the Golf Pride Tour Velvet; designed with a non-slip surface pattern giving players maximum playability, comfort and confidence.
According to internal results, of the 42 Major events held this year worldwide (PGA Tour, Champions Tour, European Tour, LPGA Tour and Nationwide Tour), players using Golf Pride grips have won 37 of them (88 percent) compared to just five for all other competitor grip manufactures combined.
"The Masters is such a true test of the game," said Dwight Miles, director of global sales and marketing for Eaton Corporation’s Golf Grip Division. "With only the premier players in golf invited to Augusta National, the fact that so many professionals in this year’s field chose Golf Pride grips shows their trust in the performance we deliver."
