TOWER, Minn., April 12, 2006 – The Wilderness at Fortune Bay, Golf Digest’s "Best New Upscale Public Course" of 2005, will open for public play next Friday, April 21. The driving range will open just prior on Tuesday, April 18.

The Jeffrey Brauer-designed, championship layout has recently earned a spot among

Golfweek’s "America’s Best" list in the state-by-state rankings. This followed on the heels of being named runner-up in the National Golf Foundation’s annual Customer Loyalty Awards, which are based on high approval ratings from customers in various operational segments. In addition, Travel + Leisure Golf magazine ranked The Wilderness among its "Ten Best New Public/Resort Courses" of 2005.

Unveiled in May 2004 as part of Fortune Bay Resort Casino, The Wilderness at Fortune Bay features beautiful landscape surrounding the shores of Lake Vermilion and offers some of the most scenic panoramas of any Midwest resort. Owned by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and operated by KemperSports, the northern Minnesota layout measures approximately 7,207 yards from the back tees, complete with four sets of tees that allow for a challenging yet pleasurable golf experience for players of all skill levels. Several holes provide breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding woodlands.
