PINEHURST, N.C. – Signet Golf Associates, a Pinehurst-based golf management firm, has added the Maggie Valley Club in Maggie Valley, N.C., to its portfolio.
Maggie Valley Club is in the midst of a multi-million dollar renaissance that will redefine it as an upscale, member-oriented club. Because of that, the club needed a management company with extensive experience in the country club environment.
"Signet was a really good fit for our property and our company. They are hands-on operators and we meshed well with them," said Mike Toohey, developer of Maggie Valley Club. "They run high-quality clubs in a variety of settings, and we felt they understood our operation well. We’re excited about the relationship."
Signet will provide a complete package of management services at Maggie Valley, with an emphasis on expanding membership at the scenic enclave in the North Carolina mountains.
"Our portfolio includes clubs that are very similar in terms of customer service levels, food and beverage operations, and first-class golf," said Signet president Barry Embler. "It’s very similar to what we’re used to – creating a good experience for the members in every aspect. We are definitely focused on elevating the customer service at Maggie Valley so it will match the quality of the clubhouse renovation and the golf course renovation."
The club has committed extensive resources to upgrade the clubhouse and course. The clubhouse project, to be completed this summer, will expand the facility to 18,000 square feet and add significant locker room and pro shop space, along with a fitness center and meeting rooms. Outdoor dining and social areas have also been created.
"I’m excited about the clubhouse renovations taking place, and the ownership has made a real commitment to increase the quality of the golf course," said Embler. "If you combine that with the scenery and the new condos and homesites, it has a ‘Wow’ factor."
Maggie Valley Club is a joint venture between the Colonial Company of Montgomery, Ala., and Hobby Construction of Newberry, S.C.
"This property has been open since the 1960s," said Toohey, "and the investments and upgrades we’ve made are the most significant changes to the club since its opening."
