The Colorado Golf Association (CGA) recently hosted a golf clinic at Hillcrest Golf Club for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Southern Ute in Durango, Colorado. Thirty boys and girls attended the clinic, and for many this was their first experience with a golf club. The clinic was conducted by CGA Governors John Golden of Denver and Tom Gorton of Durango, and is part of an ongoing relationship between the CGA and the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Southern Ute to expose these kids to the game of golf.
Funding for this program was made possible by a generous gift to CGA Junior Golf Endowment Fund from the from Pacific Southwest Financial. The CGA presented the check for $3,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Southern Ute at Tribal Headquarters in Ignacio on the same day as the clinic.
The CGA Junior Golf Endowment Fund exists for the purpose of supporting programs that foster and promote the exposure of the game of golf and its inherent values of integrity, sportsmanship and self-discipline to young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the game.
