BEAVERTON, Ore. (April 24, 2006) – Nike Golf staff member Paul Gow, who hails from Australia, captured his third career victory on The Nationwide Tour at last week’s Athens Regional Foundation Classic in Athens, Georgia. This victory, his first on The Nationwide Tour since 2000, propelled him from 31st on Tour’s money list to fifth.
Gow, who competed on the PGA Tour in 2005, posted four rounds in the 60’s on the Jennings Mill Country Club course, giving him a three-stroke victory and the $90,000 winners’ check. His triumph represents the sixth win by Nike Golf Tour staff members in the U.S. in 2006. The other five wins were captured on The PGA Tour by Chad Campbell, Rory Sabbatini, Stephen Ames and Tiger Woods, who has won twice this season.
As was the case with his fellow Nike Staff players on the PGA Tour, Gow won with the SasQuatch Driver, which has created a stir on the PGA Tour after winning more events than any other driver so far this season. Gow produced further evidence of the SasQuatch’s engineering brilliance by hitting all 14 fairways in regulation on the final day en route to his 3-under-par round of 69. His consistency didn’t stop with the SasQuatch. Also assisting him to victory were his precision approach shots to the greens with his Nike Pro Combo Tour irons.
For better control around the greens, as well as generating distance off the tee, Gow used the Nike One Platinum ball. Finishing out the arsenal in his bag is a Nike Hybrid and the SasQuatch Fairway metals. Gow also wears Nike Golf apparel and the Nike Dri-Fit glove.
