Penley Golf Begins Shipping Its New P2 Swingspeed Shafts

April 26, 2006

SAN DIEGO, CA – April 25, 2006 – Penley Golf, the Mercedes of the golf shaft industry, today announced that it has begun shipping its new P2 Swingspeed Shafts in both the 335" and .350" tip diameters.

"We introduced the P2 Swingspeed shaft at the PGA Show in January and the response has been tremendous," said David Duffy, General Manager, Penley Golf. "This shaft represents a new look and direction for Penley and we’re pleased that we are now getting it out to the market."

The Penley P2 Swingspeed shafts have been designed using a patented aerospace technology that has allowed the company to manufacture an ultra low torque shaft with great feel. Lower torque results in greater accuracy and distance (even on off-center hits) by helping to square the face at impact.

According to Duffy, low torque has always equaled harsh feel. With the company’s new technology, they have been able to remove the harsh vibrations traditionally associated with lower torque. Because of this, the P2 feels and performs unlike any shaft previously available.

The P2 Swingspeed shafts are available for drivers and fairway woods in three models, the P2 – 86r, P2 – 96s and P2 – 106x. All models include a patented dampening technology that absorbs harsh torsional vibrations without affecting the primary flex mode of the shaft or increasing weight.

The P2 – 86r shafts are designed for the player with a smoother swing tempo. The 65g. driver and 86g. fairway shafts in the P2-86r family have a torque of 2.8º, allowing the player that traditionally uses a regular flex to optimize their accuracy and distance throughout their wood set. This shaft is recommended for a player with a swing speed of 80-92 mph.

The P2 – 96s shafts are designed for the player with a faster swing tempo. The 68g. driver and 90g. fairway shafts in the P2-96s family have a torque of 2.5º, allowing the player that traditionally uses a stiff flex to optimize accuracy and distance. This shaft is recommended for a player with a swing speed of 90-102 mph.

The P2 – 106x shafts are designed for players with the fastest swing tempo. The 71g. driver and 92g. fairway shafts in the P2-106x family have a torque of 2.3º, allowing the player that traditionally uses an extra-stiff flex to optimize their accuracy and distance. This shaft is recommended for a player with a swing speed of 100+ mph.

P2 Driver and Fairway Shafts are available in R, S and X flexes with tip diameters in both .335" and .350". The driver shaft is 46" in length, while the fairway shaft measures 44.5". The P2 Driver Shaft has a suggested retail price of $110.00 and the P2 Fairway Shaft has an MSRP of$105.00.

Penley Golf, a division of HST (Horizon Sports Technologies), designs and manufactures high quality premium golf shafts including the successful Stealth 70 and ETA lines.
