Gastonia, NC – AccuFLEX Golf, The Fastest Growing Shaft On Tour, announced recently that Big Break Star (U.S.A. vs. Europe), T.J. Valentine, has joined The AccuFLEX Team Of Professionals. Valentine will be a staff player as well as an integral part of their technical advisory staff.
About T.J. Valentine
Valentine’s golf career has taken him many places throughout his life. The son of a professional bowler he excelled in several sports as a child. Practicing golf in a makeshift driving range set up by his dad and grandfather in his backyard at the age of 5 was where it all began. T.J. played in AJGA tournaments for several years as a junior and seriously considered a career in baseball until a serious knee injury put him back on the golf course.
His learning curve back to golf was quick and T.J. found himself asking why he didn’t stick with it all along. A post-graduate stab at corporate life wasn’t for him and when he was offered a club professional position, he jumped at it.
Faced by the setback of losing his mother to cancer in 2003, T.J. was stripped of his motivation to play the game. He put away his clubs for nearly a year and lost his game. His father convinced him to get back to the game he loved so much as a way to celebrate his mother’s life.
Valentine now organizes an annual golf tournament for a foundation he set up in his mother’s name to benefit at-risk students, called the DLV (Donna Lee Valentine) Chance to Learn.
Valentine became a star overnight and one of the "viewers favorites" when he appeared on The Golf Channel’s Big Break IV – U.S.A. vs. Europe. Valentine is currently the lead teaching professional at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass. He currently holds a +2 handicap and plays in several PGA events, state opens and tournaments in the New England area. Valentine’s golf game continues to improve and his numerous close finishes in competition have earned him the nickname "Top-5 T.J." amongst his friends.
