Baddeley’s Win At The Heritage Keeps Ahead On Top Of The Leaderboard
New Bedford, MA, May 2, 2006. . . Ahead’s stable of PGA TOUR professionals is off to a great start this year. Aaraon Baddeley earned his first PGA TOUR victory at Harbor Town and has skyrocketed to #21 on the money list. Joining Baddeley in the winner’s circle so far this year is Luke Donald with his win at the Honda Classic. And knocking at the door are Jim Furyk with 4 top 10 finishes and Retief Goosen with 3 top 5 finishes, including second place at The Players Championship and third at the Masters. Ahead’s momentum on tour has also carried over into the golf shops with strong first quarter results.
"Our tour staff performance so far this year is a mirror image of how well Ahead is doing in the marketplace," stated Ken Shwartz, President Ahead. "We are one of the top performers in the golf shop in every category. Our headwear business continues to grow steadily with the addition of our new Extreme Fit and Coolmax® caps, along with our two new ornamentation offerings: woven and rubber appliqué labels. Our apparel business has doubled and Retief’s strong play has given the line an added boost with great on-air exposure. The accessory and tournament business is in line for double digit growth this year."
Besides tour standouts Baddeley, Donald, Goosen and Furyk, Ahead’s headwear staff also includes 2005 tour rookie of the year Sean O’Hair, last week’s runner-up at the Zurich Classic, Charles Howell III, along with golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. Retief Goosen also promotes the Ahead Authentic® Apparel line, which includes products within the Ahead Premium, Classic and ACARE System collections.
Ahead is also the official licensee of three of golf’s most prestigious events: the 2006 U.S. Open, 2006 PGA Championship and the 2006 Ryder Cup. A full line of logoed headwear, apparel and accessories will be available in these tournament merchandise pavilions.
