VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (May 1, 2006) – "Volunteer recruitment for the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is officially underway", announced Beth Kocher, Championship Director for Pinehurst Championship Management (PCM). PCM is the event management team responsible for the sales and operations of the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Championship, and most recently the 2005 U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
It is estimated that 2800 volunteers will be needed to help ensure a smooth and seamless operation for all aspects of the Women’s Open, up from 2400 needed in 2001. Volunteer leadership will be structured in a similar format to that implemented for the 2005 U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst. Ron Crow will again serve as Volunteer Chairman. Vice Chairs Kathy Farren, Richard Lawson, Shirley Nelson and Rich Warters will rejoin Ron in leadership roles and work closely with the Championship staff in the planning and implementation of the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles.

"With close to thirty committees to choose from, there is something for everyone. We are once again looking forward to having a fantastic group of volunteers assembled to assist with the Women’s Open."
All individuals who volunteered for the 2001 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2005 U.S. Open at Pinehurst should have received a volunteer application in the mail.
