Golfweek Magazine Gives Raven Top Honor for Fifth Straight Year Along with Ranking Snowshoe Mountain’s Course 74th in the United States
Snowshoe, W.Va. – The Raven Golf Course at Snowshoe Mountain is the only public-access golf course in West Virginia to be recognized as one of the Top 100 Modern Courses in America. Golfweek Magazine rated the Gary Player Championship Course the best in West Virginia for the fifth straight year, calling the Raven at Snowshoe Mountain, "a golf course that everyone must see and experience." One of golf’s most respected magazines, Golfweek, also ranked the Raven at Snowshoe the 17th best resort course and 74th overall in the entire country.
"Being recognized as one of the best golf courses in America is quite an honor, one that we are extremely proud of," said Snowshoe Mountain Director of Golf and PGA Member Gary Williams. "Our golf staff works very hard and takes great pride in achieving this accolade."
Artistically designed in the shadows of Snowshoe Mountain, the 7,042-yard course is nestled among grassy knolls and beautiful rock formations, creating a sense of wilderness on the green. The Raven offers challenging terrain, dropping as much as 200 feet from tee to landing, while displaying scenic views of the timbered ridges on the horizon.
Set to open Thursday, May 4, 2006, the Raven at Snowshoe offers an assortment of packages including lodging, golfing and meals. The Raven will be open Thursday through Monday during the early Spring Value Season, offering guests special rates and discounted golf packages. The resort will open seven days a week beginning Friday, June 2 and will remain open through September.
