ORLANDO, Fla., (May 2, 2006) – Turnstile Publishing Company, publisher of Golfweek, TurfNet Monthly, Golf Life Orlando, and other high-end publications, has acquired Fish & Fly magazine.
Tom Pero, Fish & Fly’s award-winning editor, has joined Turnstile, along with new editorial assistant John Van Vleet, formerly of the Hungry Horse News in Columbia Falls, Montana. Additionally, Mike Mazur, formerly a Golfweek business reporter, will serve as advertising director. The editorial offices of Fish & Fly will remain in Seattle, Washington, while the magazine’s other departments will be folded into Turnstile’s Orlando headquarters.
As part of the acquisition, Fish & Fly will immediately add a fifth issue, a 2007 Tackle and Travel Annual, which will debut in December. It will feature extensive coverage of the Fly-Fishing Retailer Show, and results of independent product testing by a group of new editors-at-large specializing in trout, salmon and steelhead, warmwater, and saltwater fly fishing—an industry first. Manufacturers interested in participating should contact Tom Pero at editor@fishandflymagazine.com.
"We are delighted that a magazine of the caliber of Fish & Fly is now part of the Turnstile family of publications," said Clayton Morris, Vice President of Operations. "We look forward to serving the magazine’s devoted readers who enjoy its extraordinary graphic and literary qualities. And watch for some surprises."
