Former U.S. Open Champion wins in a playoff
Carlsbad, California – May 8, 2006; After switching to another fairway wood for a few events without recording a victory, the champion returns to his "go to" Sonartec SS Series fairway metal and wins. This is the same 13 degree Sonartec that he used in his last PGA triumph, the 2005 Western Open in Chicago.
"I doubt he’ll ever take it out of his bag now," said Sonartec tour representative Paul Santos. "Occasionally we see players who have played our clubs for a long period of time try something new in search of a win, but they realize pretty quickly that the consistent performance we offer cannot be matched," said Bob Gotfredson, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "This is a great story. Players come back because of the burning desire to win, not because we pay them an endorsement fee. In this case he came back and won immediately—that’s pretty cool," said Gotfredson.
Sonartec is a Carlsbad-based pioneer in the fairway metal and hybrid market, and will soon introduce the classic forged t35 model wedge with Yo-Yo Grovesâ?¢. Their innovative Driving Cavity technology produces extremely forgiving, high performance equipment designed for golfers of all skill levels, including women and seniors. In less than six years, the company has recorded more than 83 worldwide wins, including two British Opens. For more information on Sonartec and their products please visit www.sonartec.com.
